1. Enjoy a festive show that is curiouser and curiouser, during its opening weekend at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre. The new adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland will transport audiences to a world where March Hares take tea, caterpillars give puzzling advice and a grinning Cheshire Cat appears and disappears like magic.
2. Get yourself to the Manchester Arena for a night of chuckles with comedian John Bishop. The Liverpool-born funnyman will be on the arena stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night after taking 18 months off to write his autobiography.
3. Party to the tunes of legendary Haçienda DJ Graeme Park at a club night in Bolton. He will be behind the decks at The Bleachworks, Blackburn Road, on Saturday night, at a benefit gig in aid of mental health charity Mind.
4. Pose for pictures with Star Wars favourites C3PO and R2D2 in Bromley Cross. The Bolton Sci-Fi Comic Book Show will be at the Last Drop Village, Hospital Road, between 11am and 5pm on Sunday.
5. Don a Santa suit and dash 5km around Leverhulme Park, Long Lane, on Sunday. Walk, jog, run, skip or hop the course to raise money for Bolton Society for Blind People.
