EX-WANDERERS star Fabrice Muamba joined a celebrity choir at the BBC's Children in Need fundraiser.

A whopping £32.6 million was raised on the night, with the North West accounting for £2,647,921.

Miracle man Fabrice, who survived after his heart stopped during a cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, was part of Gareth Malone's all-star choir, performing Children in Need single Wake Me Up.

The evening of star-studded entertainment on the BBC also saw One Direction, Cheryl Fernandez-Vesini, S Club 7 and The Script.

Radio 2, led by Chris Evans, were responsible for £6.1 million of the final figure, with the show hosted by Sir Terry Wogan.

Sir Bruce Forsyth also returned for a one-off special of Strictly Come Dancing.

The entertainment was interspersed with emotional appeal videos from some of the thousands of disadvantaged children in the UK, who the cash raised will help.

Mr Wogan, BBC Children in Need Life President said: "Thank you for all you have done for BBC Children in Need, the money raised this evening is going to enable us to make a real difference to disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.”

Tony Hall, BBC Director General said; “I’m delighted and proud that Children in Need has raised so much money for disadvantaged children this year.

"I’d like to thank the Great British public for all their donations, and our staff and stars for their hard work tonight and over the last few months.

"I know that the money raised will help make a real difference to children’s lives.”
