VOLUNTARY groups came together for an inaugural community day.
The Horwich Community Working Together group organised the event at the Horwich RMI club in Chorley Old Road in a bid to promote the wide variety of community and voluntary organisations working in the borough.
Dozens of people attended to view the different stands and hear all about the opportunities available from the various groups and what they offer.
It was also a chance for the organisations to showcase what they do and potentially recruit volunteers.
Among the busy crowds were the town mayor of Horwich Cllr Richard Silvester and the MP for Bolton West Julie Hilling.
Entertainment on the day was provided by Bolton in tune, the Kadenza ladies choir and the CATS Youth Theatre.
The emergency services were also in attendance to offer information and advice from everything from staying safe to providing vital heart start training.
Organiser Jan O’Brien said: “We were amazed at the amount of people from our local community who visited the event. The feedback has been extremely positive with groups enjoying the opportunity to showcase themselves, network, talk to people and gain lots of information about the amazing work already going on in our town of Horwich"
