GUNMEN opened fire on a house in Little Hulton on Thursday night in what police are describing as a targeted attack.

A shotgun was fired at the downstairs window of a house in Shillingten Close at about 10.30pm on November 20.

Nobody was hurt but the window of the house was damaged and subsequently boarded up in the leafy, suburban cul-de-sac.

The shocked inhabitants were inside at the time and called police after hearing gunshots.

It is the second incident where shots have been fired in Little Hulton in the space of four months.

Police do not have descriptions for those behind the shooting, as they are understood to have left without being seen by the people inside the house.

On June 7, a shot was fired at a window of an unoccupied in Crescent Road. It is not thought at this stage that the two are linked.

The occupants of the house declined to speak with The Bolton News when asked.

Police are reassuring people that they think this was a specific attack, rather than a random incident.

They are appealing for witnesses and also vowed to step up patrols in the area to ensure people feel safe.

It is not yet known how many people were behind the attack, with police stressing their investigation is at an early stage.

Det Insp Alan Clitherow said: “Understandably people in the local area will be worried but the early suggestions point to this incident being an attack against a specific property as opposed to a random incident.

“The investigation is at an early stage and the local policing team are providing additional patrols for community reassurance.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone any information to speak to their local officer or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Anybody with information should call the police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
