RAIL commuters and passersby in Bolton were left confused when a clock outside Bolton train station started going backwards.
The clock was several hours behind the other clocks, on the tower next to the train station in Trinity Street, and kept going backwards.
It is the clock face directly opposite the front entrance of the train station and some passengers said it is often not set at the right time.
Some saw the funny side of it, while others said it is simply not good enough.
Edward Ryan, aged 67, of Deane, said: “I thought I would just check the time and it said it was ten past 4 at about quarter to 12. I wasn’t too happy with that.
“It’s very rare that you see this clock working. I get the train regularly and I can’t remember the last time it was on time.
“If that clock’s five minutes slow I’m thinking that’s the proper time, which could cause me to miss my train.”
Ben Reardon, aged 19, of Smithills, said: “It could be a bit of an inconvenience for some people, but I don’t think it’s too serious — I think it’s pretty hilarious.
“I’ve got a phone and a watch so I always know what the time is.”
Margaret Constantine, aged 56, of Breightmet, said: “I think it’s quite funny. Most people wear watches anyway, so it’s not a huge issue.”
