THE multi-million pound development of Bolton's newest school can be seen taking shape as it is captured on film.

Building of the new University Technical College (UTC) for young people aged 14 to19-year-olds is underway — and time-lapse photography specialist Regenology has been brought in to allow people to watch its progress.

The University of Bolton UTC is being built on the university campus and is planned for opening next September.

It will cater for 600 pupils, who will have a chance to use University of Bolton facilities in their studies and pupils will be guaranteed high quality work placements.

Regenology has worked on a number of high profile construction and regeneration projects across the UK — and say that time-lapse helps to engage the community with projects.

Richard Overton, managing director, said: “We are looking forward to capturing on film the construction of the new UTC.

"This is one of a number of great projects we have won since moving our head office to the region a couple of months ago.”

The company’s time-lapse system generates high definition footage that is ideal for historical documentation, promotional films, DVDs as well as being streamed direct from customers’ websites.

Mr Overton added: “More than 90 per cent of our work is regeneration and construction focussed.

“Our extensive experience means we have the know-how needed for complex and demanding projects including large scale regeneration and construction projects requiring multiple cameras and lasting many years.”

UTCs are described as a new concept in education.

They are designed to combine academic qualifications together with practical and technical learning and is one of 50 UTC, which have opened or are in development in the UK.

UTC Bolton, sponsored by the university, will specialise in health sciences and engineering technologies.
