MORE than 100 people came together to share food and learn about other faiths in Bolton.

The shared lunch event was held as part of Interfaith Week and was attended by almost 60 schoolchildren from seven primary schools.

It featured carol singing, poem reading, Bollywood and African dancing at Emmanuel Church, Vicarage Street, and was part of a week-long series of events.

Others included a faith walk, two faith trails with more than 220 pupils and staff from Bolton Muslim Girls School and All Saints School, Wigan, a Unity in the Community celebration event of Eid, Diwali and Advent, as well as a cricket match.

Chan Parmar, fromBolton Interfaith Council, said “I am truly humbled by the level of support we received from so many people and it's down to good partnership working in Bolton which allows us to work and support community events throughout the year and during this special week.

"For me, on reflection, Bolton is very good at partnership working together and I hope long that may continue for the benefit of peace and harmony in our town."
