IF you want to see some of the best facial hair in Bolton then you “mous-tashe” to the Genting Casino in Bolton.

Staff at the casino in Higher Bridge Street have been growing marvellous moustaches for the past month as part of the Movember charity initiative aimed at raising money and awareness for men’s health.

The staff got involved after they were persuaded by senior cashier and marketing officer Alan Warwick, who has lead the way with a Batman-inspired effort.

He said: “The idea came up at our quarterly meeting and I decided to get the ball rolling — I knew I would have to set an example with an interesting moustache, I do like Batman so it seemed a good idea.

“It has been quite hard to maintain and I will be getting rid of it as soon as the month is over.”

Genting dealer Jeff Day, aged 49, from Astley Bridge has sculpted a handlebar moustache throughout the month, he said: “I decided early on I was going to have a big one, I am quite pleased with it except that it is grey towards the bottom.

“Punters at the casino have made quite a lot of comments but I don’t think I have put anyone off their game.

“The moustache has got mixed reviews from friends and family, but it is all for a good cause.”

The Genting team set themselves a target of £500 to raise during November and are expecting to exceed that as the final donations come in.

The casino's receptionist is 72-year old John James, affectionately known as granddad by the staff.

He said he is also looking forward to removing his fulsome facial hair, adding: “It is a bit itchy to be honest and my family really don’t like it so it is going as soon as the month is finished.”
