DETECTIVES are hunting for a woman who robbed a convenience store in Little Lever.

A CCTV image of the raid, in which a shopkeeper had a CS can sprayed into his face, has been released by police.

The raid happened at SA Convenience Store in Booth Road, Little Lever, at about 7.40pm on Monday, September 22.

The woman took two bottles of cider from the shelf and walked towards the counter with a man.

They started to argue over who was going to pay and the shop owner asked for the bottles back.

The man then took out a can of CS spray and sprayed it in the owner’s face, before both left the shop with the cider.

Police have since charged a 24-year-old man with robbery and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Det Con Phil Halliwell said: “Following the robbery, the shop owner was left with injuries to his eyes, although his injuries were not serious he has been left very shaken and I am urging people to take a close look at the CCTV image we have released.

"If you recognise the woman or have any details about the robbery, please come forward and speak to the police.”

Anyone with any information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
