PEOPLE across the borough can come together to remember their loved ones at Bolton Hospice’s Light up a Life dedication service.

Children, family and friends are invited to the annual event at Bolton Parish Church on Wednesday night.

Light up a Life services offer the opportunity for people across Bolton to come together and celebrate those they miss at Christmas time.

Bolton Hospice is inviting its supporters to enjoy mince pies, mulled wine and music by Bolton Music Service and BCMCS at this year’s Light up a Life services.

Susan Francis will once again donate money and attend this year’s service in memory of her dad, Jack Sinclair.

For seven months, the hospice became a ‘home’ for Mr Sinclair and his family while he was fighting kidney cancer.

Mr Sinclair was astounded that the hospice was reliant on donations and by how much was required on a yearly basis to run and continue caring for the people of Bolton.

He died on July 5, 2012, aged 79 and his last wishes were that instead of flowers at his funeral, mourners make hospice donations.

Since Mr Sinclair died, his family has continued to raise money for the hospice.

Ms Francis said: “The Light up a Life services are lovely, moving and uplifting. They’re an oasis of calm within a busy town that allows time to remember.

"The money as a family we donate to Light up a Life is what we would have spent on Dad for his birthday and Christmas gifts.

"All the lights twinkling on the commemorative trees remind me of the stars shining in the night sky.”

Maria Passarello, events manager at Bolton Hospice, said: “Christmas can be a difficult time of year particularly for those missing loved ones, the Light up a Life services give us the opportunity to come together and reflect on those we miss, to remember and celebrate their lives.

“Everyone is invited to come along to the services, not just those who have been touched by hospice care.”

Light up a Life services are being held at Bolton Parish Church on 10th December and in the Bolton Hospice grounds on 17th December, both services will start at 7pm.
