A CONSERVATIVE club treasurer has been charged with defrauding it out of more than £100,000.
Barbara Hare, aged 66, treasurer of Dunscar Conservative Club in Bromley Cross, is accused of fraud by abuse of a position of a trust.
Her son Steven, aged 34, has been charged with money laundering.
Both of the accused, of Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, will appear at Bolton Magistrates Court on December 23.
Dunscar Conservative Club reported to police that £100,000 was missing from their accounts after carrying out an internal audit.
Police launched an investigation in August this year, and Mrs Hare and her son Steven were arrested.
Mrs Hare was removed from her post at the club while police investigated.
The alleged embezzlement of funds took place over a 12-month period, starting in August 2013.
