BOLTON Lions are still working hard to ensure local underprivileged children have a Christmas to remember.

With just days to go to the big day members of the charity are busy filling sacks and delivery presents to families all over the Bolton area.

Thanks to you, the generous readers of The Bolton News, there are more than a thousand needy youngsters enjoying the festive season this year.

There is still time though to donate and you can make donations at any of the collection points listed or by ringing one of the Bolton Lions who will collect larger items or collect from readers unable to get to one of the listed venues.

A toy service was held at St Augustine's Church in Tonge Moor where parishioners donated dozens of presents.

Lions club president Tom Slattery received the presents from minister Tony Davies surrounded by children from the Sunday School who were all happy to help.

Father Christmas will be out collecting on his sleigh — courtesy of Bolton Lever Rotary Club and Bolton Lions — at Tesco Middlebrook on Saturday December 20, at Toys 'R' Us Bolton on the same day and at Tesco Middlebrook on Tuesday December 23.

A very generous donation of gifts, including clothing, phone cases, key rings and other items suitable for older teenagers (who are notoriously difficult for the charity to find gifts for) were given by local company Footasylum who have stores in Bolton town centre and at Middlebrook.Steph Webster, Footasylum's brand marketing executive said: "We're really pleased that we could help a cause so local to us."
