SUPER slimmer Danny Davies is half the man he used to be — after giving up his pub landlord lifestyle.

Danny Davies was 24 stone at his biggest — but the 35-year-old has now lost nearly half his body weight and is now a svelte 12st 12lbs.

After joining Weight Watchers, the IT asset manager, who used to struggle walking up the stairs, overhauled his unhealthy lifestyle and is now planning to run a half marathon.

Mr Davies is currently ticking off 40 things to do before he turns 40 — and his weight loss brings him one step closer to his goal.

Another of his goals was to appear on hit TV quiz Countdown, which he achieved in November.

He said: "In 2007 I was 24 stone. I was a big guy — and now I am pleased to say I am half the man I was.

"I managed to lose a few stone on my own but in 2010 I decided to join Weight Watchers. On my first weigh in I was 19st 7lbs and my goal was to be less than 13 stone. It was a big challenge but I was determined.

"I got down to about 14st 7lbs but I reached a plateau, so I switched to Slimming World which helped me shed the extra stone and a half. I'm over the moon."

Mr Davies' love of unhealthy food and alcohol meant he quickly piled on the pounds when he worked as a pub landlord.

He said: "I had an endless supply of free food and beer and I lived above the pub, so I didn't need to walk anywhere. I shovelled greasy burgers, chips and other rubbish constantly. I was so unhealthy and probably ate treble the amount that I should have done.

"Then on top of all the food I'd wash it down with about eight pints due to being bought so many by the regulars each night. It was ridiculous.

"To lose the weight I basically had to re-programme my brain. I knew I couldn't carry on like I was. My cholesterol was through the roof, and I knew I was heading to an early grave.

"I used to be a swimmer when I was younger so I've taken that back up, as well as running and I hope to do a half marathon in the new year. Plus it means I'm one step closer to ticking off all my goals on my blog."
