FIRST class students are celebrating after receiving offers from the country's top universities.

Ten sixth-formers at Bolton School have been selected for a place at Cambridge and Oxford.

Sixth form girls Than Dar has received an offer to study medicine at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge; Natasha Hall and Sarah Richards to read classics at Cambridge, in Downing College and Corpus Christi College respectively; and Katie Hurt to study physics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

Old Girls Annabel Ault and Leda Hadjigeorgiou, who both left in 2014, have also received offers from the University of Oxford based on the grades achieved in their A-levels last year. Annabel will study geography at Hertford College, while Leda plans to read classical archaeology and ancient history at Oriel College.

In the boys’ Division, six year 13s have received offers, all from the University of Cambridge: Sohail Daniel and Shyam Dhokia to study Medicine at Caius College and St John’s College respectively; School Captain Paul Greenhalgh to read Geography at Jesus College; Alex Johnson to study Engineering at Peterhouse College; Alex Lawrence to study Chemical Engineering at Emmanuel College; and Henry Mitson to read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Caius College.
