COME on you Whites!

The whole town is backing the mighty Wanderers as they travel to Anfield for this evening’s crunch FA Cup 4th round clash against Liverpool.

Excitement has been growing all week amongst fans who are daring to believe that Neil Lennon can mastermind a famous win against the Merseyside outfit.

Can the lads recapture the magic of McGinlay, Walker, Rioch and co — who achieved the same feat on the famous “white hot” night 22 years ago with a historic 2-0 win?

There is an optimistic mood amongst the Whites faithful and one of the heroes of that match, goal scorer Andy Walker believes there is no reason Bolton can’t cause a cup upset.

He said: “This is going to be all about how you get a result and I would not be surprised if Bolton cause an upset — if not at Anfield then maybe getting a draw and bringing them back to the Macron.

“The fans are going to be really important for this game.

"In 1993 we took an extraordinary number of supporters and to have that level of support gives you a real lift — the fans always play a big part in games like this, they did in 1993 for us and they will do again.”

He said a good result for the Whites could give the whole town a boost, adding: “We had a lovely run of wins back then and we were part of a team on the up — this type of game can give everyone a boost and a spring in their step.”

“With my head I think Bolton will win 2-0 and with my heart I will go with 3-0, with a double for Emile Heskey.”

One of Bolton’s famous fans is former Crackerjack host, Stu Francis, who said he is feeling very nervous ahead of the big match.

He added: “I think I would feel a lot better about it if it was at the Macron — unfortunately the atmosphere of Anfield and the Kop can give them a bit of a gold star.

“But the thing is we have done it before — it is crucial that we don’t let the occasion of Anfield and the romance of the cup get to us.”

When pushed for a prediction, the comedian had to admit he thinks Liverpool will edge it, adding: “But I would love to get them back to our place.”

The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Martin Donaghy, spoke for the whole town when he said: "I urge every citizen to get behind Bolton tomorrow to ensure an absolute victory that will lift our town and our team. We can show we are a premier town with a premier team."

In terms of the betting, Wanderers fans might fancy a flutter. The Whites are 8/1 to win the game, the draw is 4/1 and Liverpool are 1/3 on to win.

Fans travelling to the match on the free buses provided by the club have been invited to start the party early when the fanzone at the Macron opens from 12.30pm today.

Those with a valid away ticket will be allowed to enter the Premier Suite and enjoy food and drinks before setting off for Anfield.

Coaches will be departing from the ground between 1pm and 2.30pm.
