A MAN has been arrested after gunshots were fired at a house in Little Hulton last night.

The 29-year-old is now in police custody for questioning.

Armed police were called to Crescent Drive at 9.10pm after neighbours reported hearing shots being fired.

Nobody was injured by the shots and the scene has been closed off for forensic examination.

Police said the damage to the window was consistent with a shotgun blast.

It is the fourth such gun attack in Crescent Drive in the last seven months.

Earlier this month a semi-detached house in Crescent Drive was blasted twice in successive days.

No-one was injured in the attacks on the house on January 13 and 14 and it is understood police believe both shootings were cases of mistaken identity.

They have also said they believe it was a "targeted attack", however.

Police said they believe the latest shooting is linked to the attack on January 14.

On June 7 last year two hooded men blasted a window at the front of a house in Crescent Drive.

A woman was in the house at the time but was not hurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses and say they are keen to speak to a man seen running away from the scene carrying a shotgun.

He is was white, 5ft 7in tall, stocky, and was wearing a navy blue bomber jacket, dark pants, hat and gloves.

He was seen running away from Crescent Drive towards Albany Close.

Supt Mark Kenny said: "We are at the earlystages of our enquiries, but I want to try to reassure residents that we do not believe this was a random attack and there is no wider threat to the community.

"No-one was injured and there will be an increased police presence in the area."
