A CANNABIS farm has been unearthed by police in Deane in a crackdown on drug dealers this morning.

The farm, with a street value up to £12,000, was found in Nunnery Road, where a 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis.

The man was taken into custody for questioning, and police removed 24 plants from the property, where the electricity supply had also been bypassed.

Another raid was carried out simultaneously, also in Deane, which resulted in a second arrest.

Police swooped on a property in Cressingham Drive, where they arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of possession of amphetamines with intent to supply.

Several bags of white powder were found, which police suspect to be amphetamines.

Supt Craig Thompson, from the police's specialist operations branch, said: “Drug dealers have no respect for local communities and we will not stand by and allow them to cause misery in order to fuel their own dishonest and antisocial lifestyles.

The Bolton News:

“Tackling drug-related crime is daily business and officers are out there every single day of the year hunting those responsible for bringing drugs into our communities."

The raids were part of a Greater Manchester-wide operation, codenamed Trafalgar.
