Firemen were called to help extricate an elderly woman from a car after a collision in Stephens Street, Bolton, on Thursday evening.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash near the junction with Empire Road at 7.30pm.
One of the vehicles, a Toyota Argo, ended up on a grassed area at the side of the road.
Paramedics treating the female driver, who was in her 70s, requested help from the fire service to remove her safely from the vehicle.
Firemen used specialist tools to enable the woman, who was conscious, to be put on a board and taken out of the rear of the car.
She was taken to hospital but her condition is not known.
