A SCHOOL and nursery have been forced to close as winter weather hits Bolton for the second day running.

Leverhulme Community Primary in Breightmet has shut for the second day in succession.

Meanwhile, Susan Isaacs Nursery School in Vernon Street has closed.

A yellow Met Office weather warning is in place following overnight snow.

The long traffic queues coming into Bolton, stretching as far as Bradshaw, are not related to the snow, however.

Rush hour traffic tailbacks have been caused by emergency roadworks on Folds Road, Bolton.

This is due to the installation of traffic lights at the bridge over the River Tonge, where United Utilities are digging up the carriageway.
