A NEW photography exhibition showing how the town and children’s play habits have changed has opened at Bolton Museum.
‘Street and Playground’ contrasts the work of 1930s’ photographer Humphrey Spender with modern artist Les Monaghan and celebrates the changing face of children’s street culture and games.
John Byrne, Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Youth and Culture, met and worked alongside Mr Monaghan ahead of the exhibition and encourages Bolton residents to visit the museum and learn about the town’s social history.
“They show children enjoying themselves without the need to go on computers. It is great,” he said.
“People should go down and see how the town has changed from the 1930s until now. It is quite stark in comparison to more modern times.
‘Street and Playground’ is on display at Bolton Museum on Le Mans Crescent, and is open now until Sunday 28 June.
