1. Take a trip to Manchester on Friday night to see electronic music duo Gorgon City play a gig at The Ritz. Tracks sure to get hands in the air include Go All Night, featuring Jennifer Hudson – the huge, classic piano house-inspired track co-written by Kiesza.

2. Join up to 3,000 clubbers for a night of dance music at the Macron Stadium in Horwich on Saturday night. Radio 1’s Dance Anthems DJ Danny Howard will be behind the decks in the Premier Suite, along with Annie Mac, Philip George, Just Jorge, Lewis Smith, Lee Drake and Andy Shaw.

3. Make like a bookworm and pay a visit to your local library. Saturday is National Libraries Day and events are being held to celebrate in Bolton. At Breightmet Library, there will be heart-themed crafts between 9am and 5pm; Bolton Central Library will be celebrating 150 years of Alice in Wonderland between 1pm and 3pm and there will also be activities at Horwich Library and High Street Library.

4. Show off your creative side during a visit to The Hive at Moss Bank Park, between 11am and 1pm on Saturday. This month’s Wild Families session has an art attack theme, entry costs £3 per person or £10 for a family of four.

5. See a funky blues band entertain drinkers at a Bolton town centre pub on Sunday night. The Mighty Revelators, which formed after meeting at a jam night in 2009, will be at the Brass Cat, Churchgate.
