BOLTON Hospice bosses were welcomed to Downing Street by the Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron, who recognised their work as ‘charity champions.’

Mrs Cameron hosted a reception for Judith Bromley, the chairman of Bolton Hospice and Andy Morgan, a hospice trustee at the nation’s most recognisable address.

The Bolton pair were invited to the prestigious event after being nominated for their charity work by Chris Green, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Bolton West.

Conservative MPs and parliamentary candidates across the country were asked to nominate two guests from their constituency who they considered to be “charity champions.”

Mrs Bromley, who took over the chairman position at the Chorley New Road side last year, said: “It was a great privilege to have been asked to attend and to represent all our wonderful staff and volunteers and to meet Mrs Cameron who seemed genuinely interested in our work and charities in general.”

Former Conservative councillor Andy Morgan, who is seeking re-election to the council in May, agreed.

He said: “It was a great day and it was a great honour to represent not only the Hospice but also all charities who work tirelessly in Bolton, in many different ways, to support our community”.

Mrs Cameron said it was an honour to meet the pair and toast the work of the hospice.

She added: “It was a privilege to meet Andy and Judith from Bolton Hospice at 10 Downing Street.

“Their amazing work is changing the lives of individuals and families across Bolton and it was an honour to celebrate their work at the reception for charity champions.”

Mr Green said: “Across Bolton, there are so many wonderful voluntary organisations and charities that should be recognised for the work that they do.

“Bolton Hospice continues to do so much for the people of Bolton and I was delighted to nominate their chairman, Judith Bromley, and trustee, Andy Morgan, for a reception at 10 Downing Street with Samantha Cameron.”
