RESIDENTS are fuming after a pick up truck driver dumped a pile of rubbish on a street near their homes.

The rubbish, which included, bricks, paints cans and a door, was tipped on the back street between Station Road and Randolph Road, Kearsley, at about 1.30pm on Friday.

Homeowners who witnessed the incident say they have passed the vehicle's licence plate registration to the council.

Bolton Council has received a complaint about the incident and its enforcement team are now looking into it.

Station Road resident Yvonne Davies heard the noise of the rubbish being dumped and says she saw the wagon 'charging' up the back street, in the direction of Stoneclough.

Mrs Davies, aged 62, said: "I think it's disgraceful that someone could do this, especially in broad daylight. It's not like this rubbish is even on the side of the road, it's slap bang in the middle.

"If someone on Station Road or Randolph Road needs an ambulance or a fire engine, they couldn't get down here."

Mrs Davies's husband John, aged 63, added: "I'm absolutely disgusted. This sort of thing shouldn't happen anywhere — there's no need for it.

"I think what's happened is someone's thought they don't want to pay the fee to take this to a tip, so they've just thought that the residents could sort it out for themselves.

"Hopefully the council can find out who it was and take action against the perpetrator."

Stephen Tonge, a Station Road resident, aged 65, took pictures of the waste, and says the incident has the potential to endanger residents.

Mr Tonge said: "This is not just an act of stupidity, but it can cause all kinds of problems for emergency vehicles trying to access the street.

"It's just vandalism — it's not socially acceptable in any form."

A council spokesman said: "A fly-tipping incident in Kearsley has been reported by a member of the public. We take all reports of fly tipping seriously and our enforcement team will look into this incident.”
