A 24 HOUR strike called by firefighters saw stand-in crews being called out to six incidents across Bolton.

The industrial action, which ran from 7am on Wednesday to 7am this morning, saw crews being called out to three small fires, a crash on Chorley Old Road, a minor chimney fire and an automatic fire alarm.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue called on trained stand-in emergency fire crews to man stations during the industrial action.

It was the latest strike to be called by the Fire Brigades Union, in a long running dispute with the Government over pensions.
