LITTLE Tyler Brewin needs a new set of wheels to help him get around — and he is hoping that people in Bolton can help.

The 17-month-old, who has up to 25 fits a day and struggles to crawl, walk or hold his head up, needs a new £2,000 specialist buggy.

But his parents Nicola Mann, aged 29, and Paul Brewin, aged 41, of The Pungle, Westhoughton, say they will have to wait a year to get one on the NHS.

The couple, along with Janet Colley from Westhoughton Active Communities Organisation, are arranging fundraising events and have set up a donation page called Tyler's Wheels to help buy the buggy.

Ms Mann said: "A normal everyday pram doesn't give him the support he needs to keep his head up. I have asked the doctors but the wait could be anything up to a year and he's already grown out of this one so we are hoping to get it ourselves."

Tyler has epileptic encephalopathy and a condition called global development delay meaning he struggles to do normal things for a toddler his age.

Ms Mann added: "He was four months when he got epilepsy — it was literally out of the blue.

"Since then he has had them every day, and on top of that he has global development delay. But despite all this he's a real trooper."

The next fundraiser is an evening of cabaret on Friday, March 13 and will feature a number of special guests and performances at the Mercury Hotel, Westhoughton.

Mrs Colley said it was important that Tyler's family were given help to buy the Snappi buggy.

She said: "It would make Nicola and Paul's lives so much easier if he had this new buggy. They haven't got a car so this is the only mode of transport they have for him."
