MOTORISTS faced delays on the M61 after a crash between a van and a car.
The collision occurred at about 5pm on the southbound carriageway near Botany Bay shopping centre in Chorley.
Firefighters were sent to the scene and treated one driver for non life-threatening injuries before paramedics took over.
Traffic coming from Preston towards Manchester was queuing between junction eight for Chorley and the Bolton West services at Rivington, located near junction six.
Initially the road was completely blocked as firefighters dealt with the accident, but all lanes reopened at 6.41pm.
A spokesman for the Highways Agency said all delays are now clear.
