FIREFIGHTERS are warning people to be careful where they keep their wheelie bins this morning after three were set on fire.

Crews from Bolton North were called to Waverley Road in Astley Bridge at 2am this morning after three wheelie bins and a shed were deliberatley set on fire in a back garden.

Someone had gained entry to the rear of a property before starting the fire which destroyed the shed and some other items.

The crews used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and no one was hurt.

Watch manager Nigel Booth said: “What helped in this case was that the bins were quite far away from the property.

“Wherever people can, they should bring their bins in after bin day and not out them out too soon before.

“People should also out locks on gates and keep their bins away from the property and windows.

“We have liaised with the police and they are investigating.”
