UNFORTUNATELY it’s a similar story this evening, with traffic beginning to bank up on the A666 St Peter’s Way.

A lane closure at Raikes Lane, while bridge maintenance work is carried out, is causing queues in both directions as cars merge from two lanes to one.

Traffic is also slow at the Raikes Lane junction. Reports suggest Deane Road, the A676, is busy but moving steadily but there are queues to be aware of on the A6 Salford Road. One lane is closed at Watergate Lane, due to roadworks.

A little further afield, there is congestion on the A58 between Bolton Street and Bury Bridge in Bury. Traffic is moving slowly around the Crostons Road junction.

And if you’re using the M60 to get home this evening, be warned there are severe delays between junction 24 at Denton Island and junction 25 at Bredbury, because of a multi-car crash.

One lane is currently closed, with traffic queuing.

In terms of roadworks, Station Road in Blackrod is closed both ways due to roadworks between the A6 Blackrod By-Pass Road and Moss Lane.

This is due to electrification works at Blackrod station.

Grimeford Lane in Blackrod is also closed both ways due to roadworks at The Railway Bridge for the rail electrification work with a diversion via Railway Road in Adlington.

There are temporary traffic lights on Mill Lane, Horwich, while resurfacing work is carried out at B6226 Church Street.
