TRADERS in Kearsley are being urged to look after their skips after firefighters were called to a blaze.

Firefighters attended the Lyon Road Industrial Estate at just after 8.20pm last night to put out fires in two skips.

The team, based at Farnworth fire station, were at the scene for about an hour while they made the area safe.

Watch manager Paul Harrison said the incident was being treated as suspicious.

He added: "When industrial waste is left accessible overnight, there is always the risk that someone might come in and set fire to it, so we would appeal to business owners to lock up their waste or remove it where possible."
