BROADCASTER Janet Street-Porter, Education Secretary Nicky Morgan and Scottish Labour Leader Jim Murphy will be among the panellists when BBC debate show Question Time is filmed in Bolton this week.

Veteran broadcaster David Dimbleby will host the programme in the borough on Thursday, when two further panellists will also be revealed.

Mr Dimbleby announced the line-up on last week’s episode of the programme, recorded in Croydon.

Bolton residents have been applying to the BBC in hope of securing a spot in the audience for what is bound to be a lively evening of political debate, with the General Election now less than fifty days away.

One person who will be engaging in that debate is 51-year-old Jez Wadd from Harwood, who has been offered an audience spot.

He said: “At the last election, I was in the audience for two BBC regional discussion programmes and I am looking forward to the opportunity to debate whatever arises on Thursday.

“If nothing else, programmes like Question Time allow the debate to happen and reason not to be shut down by extreme groups from any side shouting the loudest.”

Mr Wadd works in the manufacturing industry and said he has been hampered by both the previous Labour and current Coalition governments.

He said: “I would like to ask what government assistance is to be made available to improve the manufacturing base — because I believe that it is imperative that we do not lose any more.”

The BBC contacts applicants on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the programme is filmed.

The corporation has said that the high volume of requests it receives means it is unable to contact everyone and that those who have heard nothing should assume that their application has been unsuccessful.

However, there may still be places available and those looking to apply should visit bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t1q9 and click on the Join the Audience tab.
