A week after the body of a middle-aged man was found in a car, along

with thousands of pounds in cash, in a Sutherland wood, police still

have not identified him. A police officer said last night: ''He was

extremely careful about covering his tracks.'' The man was found last

Friday by woodcutters three miles off the public road at Dalchork, near

Lairg. He had been dead only a few hours. He had bought the Ford Escort

car for more than #5000 in cash at a Leeds garage on Tuesday of last

week and was known to have stayed overnight in an Edinburgh hotel. There

are no suspicious circumstances but the police have not revealed how he

died.
