ALL 118 jobs at a west of Scotland T-Mobile call centre could be axed as the firm shifts its operation to the Philippines.

Up to 300 staff at a Falkirk call centre are also facing redundancy after the announcement.

The 118 jobs under threat are at the TSC call centre in Greenock, which provides contact centre services and technology support to T-Mobile.

Greenock-based MSP Stuart McMillan said the announcement was a "body blow".

Mr McMillan said: "I'm disappointed to hear this. It clearly will affect the local economy.

"TSC and T-mobile are major employers in Inverclyde. This will be a body blow to those affected, particularly with the current economic situation as it is.

"I will be contacting the Scottish Government to see what we can do to help those affected and to minimise the number of jobs lost."

In a statement, T-Mobile said: "This decision will result in a gradual transfer of services from the current provider TSC.

"T-Mobile is working closely with TSC to minimise the impact of this decision."

TSC operates seven sites in Scotland and one in Yorkshire. A 90-day statutory consultation process has begun.
