PLANS to create a marina in the heart of Glasgow are bold and ambitious. But it is also an achievable vision.

The ongoing transformation of the River Clyde in the city has been successful, with both banks home to new housing and business developments.

A marina would be something new again, and give the river traffic on the water, something many people have noted is still missing.

The canting dock on the south side is the last available land on the banks and a thriving boating community would be welcome.

It was once home to some of the largest ships in the world, but opening up the river to small craft can bring new life to the Clyde. Flu advice must be crystal clear

SO far the calls for people not to panic over swine flu have been heeded and the public response has been sensible.

For that to continue people need clear and accurate advice to allow everyone to calculate their own level of risk in order to remain safe.

The conflicting advice from a trusted childbirth group and government officials is disappointing, as a united effort is needed.

The government has to clarify the advice for pregnant women now.

We need to be able to trust the advice, so it must be clear and straightforward to follow.
