TWO young artists received an EGGstra special Easter treat after winning The Bolton News' annual Design an Egg competition.

Zahraa Bhorat, aged eight, and Khadijah Namazi, aged five, are this year's winners after creating two 'cracking' colourful designs which beat stiff competition from children across Bolton.

They picked up their prizes from Nikki Wilson Cook, centre manager at The Market Place, which was the competition sponsor.

Thousands of entries were received from primary school pupils who battled it out be in with a chance to win a giant Slattery Chocolatier egg with their winning Easter design printed on.

Zahraa, who attends Beaumont Primary School and won the aged eight to 11 category, also received a year's pass for four to the shopping centre's Sea Life Manchester.

She said: "I was really happy when I found out I won. I'm going to save my egg for when my cousins come over so we can have a midnight feast."

Khadijah, a pupil at St Thomas School in Halliwell Road, won the aged four to seven category which also included a year's pass to Lego Land in the intu Trafford Centre for four people.

Her mum Hafsa Patel said: "She is always drawing and loves making colourful pictures of caterpillars, flowers and rainbows. She even makes my mothers' day and birthday cards."
