THE roads are painting a similar picture to yesterday.

Unfortunately, if you need to get out of Bolton on the A666 this morning you will most likely be stuck in traffic.

Motorists will find St Peter’s Way is very slow-moving between Moses Gate and Kearsley as cars merge from two lanes to one to avoid those roadworks.

There are also delays on the M61 southbound between junction three for Kearsley Spur and junction one of the M60, the Swinton interchange.

Salop Street in Bolton has now reopened after the fire at Shakespeare Foundry on Monday afternoon.

Further afield, there are queues in the usual places on the East Lancashire Road in Astley.

Anyone heading eastbound will find congestion in the roadworks area, between the Queens Arms traffic lights, on Chaddock Lane, and the A575 Walkden Road junction.

Other motorways don’t look too bad at the moment, but traffic is slow on the M60 anticlockwise between junction 18 for the M62 at Simister Island, and junction 13 for Worsley.

A replacement bus service is still running on First Transpennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly and Preston due to engineering works.

Trains between Manchester and Preston, Blackpool North and Barrow-in-Furness are being diverted between alternative routes.

Buses are running to serve Salford Crescent, Bolton, Horwich Parkway, Chorley and Buckshaw Parkway in the late evenings and early mornings.

The trains will be back to normal at 6am tomorrow.
