LOVE is in the airwaves for radio presenter Tanya Hanson — who was proposed to by her boyfriend live on air.

Miss Hanson was shocked to see her other half gym manager Steve Stevens burst into the studio as she presented her final show on Bolton FM — and got down on one knee.

The presenter was left speechless — but managed to to keep it together until the end of the show.

She said: "I am not often speechless.

"It was such a shock, I knew Steve was here but I had no idea that he was going to propose.

"It has been building up all week. People have been sending really nice messages and wishing me well on leaving — and it has just topped it off with this."

It was a doubly emotional day for Miss Hanson, aged 24, as it was her final show before she packs up and moves to Cleveleys with her new fiance.

The couple have been together since last August, and met at Mr Steven's gym.

She pulled her back and suffered pains which left her in hospital, and Steve remained by her side and helped her through the problem.

They struck up a friendship at first sight and have not looked back since.

Miss Hanson said: "We have been together about nine months, but it may as well be nine years, with what we have gone through together over those months."

Mr Stevens, aged 25, who now competes in strongman competitions, said: "Tanya has been dropping hints, and she already has everything planned for the wedding.

"She has been designing dresses, and already has the bridesmaid dresses ready."

Prior to being on Bolton FM, Miss Hanson studied theatre at Bury College and got a performing arts degree from the University of Bolton before mentoring children at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton.

Miss Hanson, who previously lived in Whitefield, says her time on Bolton FM in the past year has confirmed her desire to work in radio as a career.

She added: "It has been brilliant at Bolton FM, everyone has been really helpful and I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way."
