A YOUNGSTER will be representing Bolton at a national beauty pageant.

Amy Rothwell, aged 11, has been won a place in the finals of Little Miss Teen Great Britain which takes place in October this year at The Globe in Blackpool.

It is the first competition of its kind that Amy, who lives in Astley Bridge, has entered.

She is also signed to a modelling agency and is a member of Hunters Cheerleading in Horwich.

Her parents Andrea, aged 44, and Nigel, aged 45, say they are delighted their daughter will be representing their hometown.

Mrs Rothwell said: "We are so pleased she has got through – we can't really believe it has got this far to be honest with you.

"We sent off her application and thought nothing of it. Then she got through to the next round, then the next – and now she is in the finals.

"She loves modelling and cheerleading. She is confident and has a wicked sense of humour. This competition is not just about beauty but also personality so hopefully she will do well on both sides."

The event is taking place on October 24 and 25 and Amy is hoping that businesses in Bolton will help sponsor her by donating items to wear at the event.

Mrs Rothwell said: "Even if it is a beauty salon that offers to give her a manicure or a shop that donates a dress. We would be grateful to anyone who can help out."

Amy added: "I can't wait for the finals — it is going to be brilliant."
