FIREFIGHTERS were called to a family home in Tyldesley after reports of a gas leak.
Crews from Atherton fire station attended the house in Highcrest Grove at about 10.45pm on Thursday and discovered that the tumble dryer was giving off a smell similar to gas as it was drying chlorine-soaked towels.
Watch manager Dave Holden said: “We had reports of a gas leak, but thankfully it was just the tumble dryer giving off fumes from drying the towels they’d used while swimming.”
