A WOMAN suffered smoke inhalation after trying to put out a fire that had started in her kitchen.
The woman, aged 40, had left a gas hob on and a piece of plastic came into contact with it, causing a fire to start at the house in Dunbar Drive, Great Lever, at about 12.15pm.
She tried to put the fire out herself using a tea towel, and suffered from smoke inhalation in the process.
A fire service trauma technician gave her oxygen therapy, but she did not need to be taken to hospital.
Watch Manager Ian Reid, from Bolton Central fire station, said: "You shouldn't try to put a fire out yourself, we advise that people leave the room and call is immediately."
