THERE was plenty of junior energy on show at Bolton Arena this week when a mini gymnastics’ camp was held as part of the venue’s half-term activities.
The four to six year-olds enjoyed doing forward rolls, learning how to swing on the bars, balancing and making shapes on the beams, running and jumping onto the box and generally having a lively time, all under the watchful eye of qualified instructor Dianne Keefe.
The session is one of a series of special camps that the arena runs for children of all ages on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during all the school holidays.
Manager Sue Hayes said: “The gymnastics classes are an opportunity for youngsters already doing gymnastics to try out something different or work on something they’re weak on.
"And it’s great for beginners to have a go at a different activity with other youngsters at the same level.”
The sessions also give parents “a bit of down time”, added Sue.
The arena also runs holiday sessions with “free play” for children from walking age to four years, with their parents.
Mrs Hayes added: “These classes are wonderful chaos that both the parents and children really enjoy.”
