A SPECTACULAR celebration of imagination and inspiration has opened with the launch of the University of Bolton's Creative Show.

Students' skills, talent and excellence is on show at Senate House at the University of Bolton — now open to the public — with the different pieces reflecting students' creative flair.

The work by students is described as "innovative and exciting" and showcases the type of artistic talent Bolton School of the Arts has been producing for more than 150 years.

The university says that all School of the Arts courses give students the opportunity to put together unique programme of study to realise their own creative vision — which was exhibited on the opening night.

Works included installations, interior designs, art works, photography and much more, with visitors even enjoying performance art at the invite only launch, where awards were presented to students.

Students were on hand to speak about their work to guests at the official opening.

Academic group leader Sam Johnson said: "The Creative Show demonstrates all the work across the university’s disciplines.

"As ever, staff are so proud of our students’ achievements.

"We have a wide array of prizes and awards from across the creative industry sector.

"It has been a great evening and a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their work, and moreover, celebrate their achievements."

Twenty-nine awards were presented to a selection of standout student projects from across the arts spectrum.

The Creative Show 2015 is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

The full Creative Degree Show includes work from the university courses in animation and illustration; architectural technology; art and design; creative writing; fine art; games art and games design; graphic design; interior design; photography; textiles and surface design.

People can visit the 2015 Creative Show which is running until this Saturday, when the university is holding an Open Day.
