A MOBILE phone firm run by an American billionaire businessman has been unveiled as Wanderers' new sponsors for next season.

ROK Mobile will feature on the home and away kits for the 2015-16 season, after the firm signed a two year deal with the club.

Wanderers expressed their delight at the deal with the firm, which is run by billionaire entrepreneur John Paul Dejoria and Wolverhampton based Jonathan Kendrick.

The new home kit for the 2015-16 season was revealed yesterday.

Mr Dejoria, aged 71, is said to be worth $2.9 billion and is ranked at number 663 in the Forbes rich list.

He is the founder of the Paul Mitchell hair product company, which he formed with hairdresser Paul Mitchell with a loan of $700 in 1980.

He is also the owner of the Patron tequila company, which was established in 1989, selling millions of cases of tequila every year.

Outside of his business interests, Mr Dejoria is involved in the film industry as an executive producer and actor, and appeared in the Adam Sandler comedy film You Don't Mess With the Zohan, in which he played his former business partner Paul Mitchell.

ROK Mobile is also run by Jonathan Kendrick, who was valued at £330 million last year.

He started in business aged 16 with Goodyear Racing, securing the European rights to the then unknown Yokohama Tyres and gained sponsorship deals with Ayrton Senna and Eddie Jordan, before selling the European operation back to its Japanese parent for a healthy profit.

In America, ROK Mobile has signed deals with Warner Music, Sony and Universal, giving users access to more than 20 million songs since it was set up in the US last year.

It is putting the finishing touches to its music-focused mobile network in this country, which is set to be launched next month before the football season.

The SIM-only product is designed to offer a combined mobile phone package including calls, texts and a data plan, with a music streaming service in the style of Spotify.

Customers can benefit from the advert free music streaming service, which is on a rolling 30 day contract.

Richard Gough, head of commercial at Wanderers, said: "We’re delighted to welcome ROK Mobile as our new principal shirt sponsors for the coming seasons.

"ROK Mobile are very much a forward-thinking and ambitious company and this is an exciting deal for both entities. We are looking forward to a successful working partnership.

"We’d also like to take this opportunity to place our thanks on record to our previous principal shirt sponsors, FibrLec.”

James Kendrick, ROK Mobile director, added: “We’re very proud and delighted to be a new member of the Bolton Wanderers family.

"We’re scheduled to launch in July, just before the new season begins and we look forward to being part of what we all hope will be an outstanding two years for the team and its supporters.”
