BOLTON residents on holiday in Tunisia have been offered advice about staying safe in the country and warned to avoid certain areas in the aftermath of Friday's terrorist attack.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued a raft of information and advice after 38 tourists were murdered in the popular resort in Sousse on Friday.

It is believed that upto 30 Britons are among the dead.

The FCO has sent a British Embassy team to the area and is advising Britons on the ground to keep in touch with their tour operators and follow and advice from the Tunisian security authorities.

British nationals currently in Tunisia can also inform the foreign office of their whereabouts or reach out to friends or family by calling +44 2070080000 or texting Tunisia to +447860010026.

A spokesman warned that further attacks in the region could take place, he said: “Further terrorist attacks in Tunisia, including in tourist resorts, are possible, including by individuals who are unknown to the authorities and whose actions are inspired by terrorist groups via social media.

“You should be especially vigilant at this time and follow the advice of Tunisian security authorities and your tour operator.”
