A DRAMATIC hour-long police chase through Breightmet ended in a man being arrested this morning.
The chase started at 10.45am in Newby Road after officers had asked a Vauxhall Corsa to pull over.
The driver instead sped away, with another passenger on board.
A pursuit was eventually completed about an hour later, after a short period in which the police lost touch with the Corsa.
By 12.15pm, a man was in custody, arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taking a vehicle without consent.
The second man was no longer in the car, which had earlier been taken from Jethro Street, Tonge Moor.
Police took every effort to ensure there no were injuries or damage caused as a result of the chase, a spokesman added.
