THERE is congestion on the motorways this morning.

Highways England is reporting very slow traffic on the M61 southbound between junction three at Kearsley Spur and junction 14 for the M60 and East Lancs Road.

There is also congestion on the M60 anticlockwise between junction 17 for Prestwich and junction 13 for Worsley.

Anyone driving towards Manchester city centre should be aware there is congestion on the M602 between junction one for the M60 at the Eccles Interchange and junction two for Gilda Brook Road.

The roadworks in Tonge Moor Road either side of the crossroads with Crompton Way, which have seen one lane closed, are due to end today.

And, as most people are aware, Orlando Street is still closed both ways – the stretch of road over the railway line between Manchester Road and Thynne Street – due to bridge maintenance work. It will remain shut until March next year.
