A CHILD was continually raped by a 31-year-old man, a court heard.

Jonathon Brown is accused of raping the girl over a five year period as well as sexually assaulting her and making her watch pornographic films.

Brown, of Church Road, Smithills denies the 16 offences he has been charged with, and is currently on trial at Bolton Crown Court.

The court heard that the girl first made allegations about being forced to watch the films during a conversation with her headteacher, who then reported them to social services.

Giving evidence, the headteacher told the court: “She was upset at the beginning of the conversation but towards the end of the conversation she was actually quite chatty.”

Prosecuting, Nicholas Clarke said: “In a conversation with her headteacher she said she had been watching rude films.

“That was something which you can understand was of some concern to the headteacher.”

Mr Clarke said that the girl alleges that Brown made her watch “rude films” before raping her, and sexually assaulting her.

The jury was shown videos of two police interviews between the girl and Detective Constable Lee Gridley, a specially trained officer from Greater Manchester Police.

During the first interview, the girl said Brown had “put silly things on the television”.

She also said that Brown would say to her: “Watch this, it is really hilarious”.

But the girl told Det Con Gridley that she replied: “It’s not really funny. I don’t know what you are on about.”

When Det Con Gridley asked what was featured in the films, the girl said: “It’s what men and women would have to make a baby.”

In a second interview, the girl made the allegations of rape and sexual assault to the officer.

After being asked by Det Con Gridley, she said the alleged offences felt “horrible”.

She said: “The first time we watched the sex thing he did it, and then every time we watch the sex film he did it.”

Brown denies 10 counts of raping a child, five counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act.

The trial continues.
