A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was rushed to hospital after falling off the roof of a community centre on Sunday.

Police had been called to Little Lever Community Centre at about 4.15pm by residents concerned that some young people were causing damage to the roof.

When officers arrived, five youths were on the roof of the building in Mytham Road.

One had fallen and was being treated for a suspected broken leg.

Police warned parents and young people against climbing onto buildings in light of the incident.

The boy injured was conveyed to the Royal Bolton Hospital by ambulance.

No arrests were made by police responding, and it is not clear if any damage was caused to the building, which is used by the Village Pre-School Playgroup.

A police spokesman said: "We strongly advise against climbing onto buildings or any platform above the ground of a substantial height for this reason, plus the offence of criminal damage and trespassing.

"Please stay safe over summer."

Cllr Paul Richardson, for Little Lever, said: "We were expecting an increase in the issues regarding young people in Little Lever as the summer holidays approach.

"We would encourage all the youngsters to have fun but behave responsibly.

"We want them to have fun and be safe but you don't have to misbehave or cause any damage to anything to have fun.

"That is what we would encourage people to bear in mind over the next seven weeks."

A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokesman said they were called to Mytham Road at 4.36pm and took an injured male to hospital.
