RESIDENTS are still being asked to boil water before drinking it - despite the supply being returned to all Bolton homes.
United Utilities has said that an issue at the Sweetloves Water Treatment Works, which left thousands of homes without water since Monday, has now been fully rectified.
But the water board has said that until further notice, it is important that any water being used for drinking or food preparation is boiled before use as a precaution.
A spokesman said: "Once the water has returned we advise you to boil the water before drinking it. It is fine to use for bathing and toilets and poses no health risk."
Bottled water is also still being provided at the Asda superstore in Moss Bank Way and United Utilities will also have a customer service vehicle on hand at the same location to answer any queries from customers.
