A TONGE Moor man has denied posting so-called 'revenge porn' online in one of the first cases of its kind in the region.

Kevin Bond pleaded not guilty to disclosing private sexual photos with intent to cause distress.

Bolton Crown Court heard the 30-year-old is alleged to have disclosed a private sexual photograph or film without the consent of the person who appeared in the photograph or film, with the intention of causing that individual distress.

He is the first to be charged with the new offence by Greater Manchester Police.

He also is accused of raping a woman on 19 April last year, and of four counts of rape on April 27 this year.

In addition, he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on May 25 last year, and of assaulting a woman on April 27 this year.

He is also charged with destroying a door belonging to the woman on April 27 this year.

All charges are in relation to the same woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Bond, of Elsdon Gardens, Tonge Moor, pleaded not guilty to all nine counts during the short hearing.

Colin Buckle, defending, said Bond claims the alleged rapes were consensual.

A trial which is expected to last for about seven days will be held at Bolton Crown Court on March 7 next year.

Bond was given bail by Judge Timothy Clayson.

Legislation designed to tackle revenge porn was drawn up in October last year and became law in February.

The amendment to the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 stipulates that those guilty of the new offence can face up to two years in prison.
