A FAMILY from Bromley Cross will take centre stage on an ITV gameshow this weekend — all thanks to a 10-year-old who wanted to be on television.

Izzie Darbyshire, a pupil at Eagley Junior School, dreamed of appearing on Keep it in the Family after watching the programme last year, so she emailed producers and asked if her family could take part.

The 10-year-old impressed producers so much that they called her mum Emma, who agreed the family could apply.

They were asked to audition in March before being told the good news that they had been picked for the show, which will air on Saturday.

The Darbyshires, including Izzie's mum Emma, aged 35, grandad Ian, aged 56, and uncle Kieran, aged 27, can be seen on this Saturday's episode, hosted by Bradley Walsh, at 7pm.

Miss Darbyshire said: "It was all down to Izzie. She watched the programme last year and said she wanted to be on it and that she was going to apply.

"She went on my computer and sent an email herself.

"Then I got a call from a producer who said only people over 18 could apply, so Izzie wrote the application herself and I signed it.

"We were invited to audition in London and couldn't believe it when Bradley Walsh was there. He was really lovely and so funny. I said to Izzie that it might not go any further — and the next thing I know we'd got through."

The show features three generations of rival families, aided by six star guests who battle through a series of games in a bid to bag big prizes, including family holidays and brand new cars.

This week will also feature Bolton actor Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle in Emmerdale.

Miss Darbyshire said: "We had a really good chat with Mark about Bolton. It turns out he lived in Astley Bridge and my mum and dad live there.

"Izzie was so excited. She loves Emmerdale and even got the chance to sit next to Gemma Atkinson while she had her make-up done. It was a fantastic day."

Izzie added: "I love it. My favourite part was dunking the celebrities. It was really funny seeing their faces."
